Royal Caribbean Cruise Was Absolutely Great Family Fun!!!

Royal Caribbean Cruise Was Absolutely Great Family Fun!!!

Our family just returned from one of the most memorable and fantastic family vacations you could ever have. . . .especially if your wife, children, and grandchildren are happy!!

We cruised on the biggest ship in the world. . .Royal Caribbean Cruise Lines Allure of the Seas.  She’s just 223,000 tons, almost 4 football fields long, 72 yards wide, with a passenger capacity of 5,400 and a crew total of 2,176.  On first glance, it seems impossible that they can move and accommodate that many people comfortably, but I can tell you that they can, and can do it very professionally.

The first time I went on the Oasis, Allure’s older sister, I timed the check-in and from the time I stepped into the terminal until I stepped over the ship threshold, it was only 15 minutes for my wife and me to check in.  This time we had 11 people trying to stay together for photos and checking in, but even then, only 33 minutes elapsed.  So that is remarkable!!

The entertainment package was just outstanding. . .and we saw something every night.  The Broadway play, Chicago, with the ships orchestra,  was as good as you would see in New York.  The Aqua show with divers and gymnasts performing all kinds of tricks in the water was awesome.  The headliner entertainer was puppeteer Ron Lucas who had entertained presidents and audiences all over the world.  The adult only comedy show was really funny, and the night with Blue Planet entertained royally.  The ice show with former Olympic ice skaters performing tricks on the ice was certainly unbelievable especially on a moving ship.

Can’t say enough good things about the dining, with presentations in the main dining room, as well as 13 other venues to enjoy varied menus.

There is plenty of things to do for both young and old on the ship. Oh, and by the way, we did port in Nassau, St. Thomas, and St. Maarten.  But I can tell you that even though those are great stops, the ship was the feature this week.

For the kids, they had two parades on the main promenade as well as several opportunities to meet and greet their favorite characters from Shrek, Madagascar, and Kung Fu Panda. . .oh, and Miss Fiona, the Penguin, and Puss in Boots, just to name a few.  They had a kids H20 zone water park and a 3-D movie theatre. . .even a merry-go-round to enjoy.
