Consider Cruising On A Brand New Princess

Consider-Cruising-On-A-Brand-New-Princess---The-Travel-Factory Consider Cruising On A Brand New Princess

A couple of weeks ago I announced our intention for The Travel Factory Gang to take a river cruise on the Elbe River, an itinerary that starts in Prague and ends in Berlin. That ship's capacity is only 98 persons.

Princess Cruise Line is launching their newest ship, the Enchanted Princess, in the summer of 2020. We are planning for a Travel Factory Gang cruise on her beginning on August 22-September 5, 2020; a 14-night cruise, visiting 9 ports, beginning in Rome and disembarking in Barcelona, Spain. She has the capacity to carry a few more persons!!!

She will have about 3-4 cruises completed when we board, so some of the initial newness will have been worn off and the staff and crew will have had time to get settled in.

The ship is the fifth in the “Royal Class”, following previous ships, Royal, Regal, Majestic, and Sky. She boasts of 140,000 ton range, enjoying around 3,660 guests on board. They have redesigned several of the specialty restaurants, otherwise much of it will be familiar if you've cruised on one of the Royal Class ships.

Enough about the ship.....how about the itinerary. The focus of this itinerary is the Greek Islands. They visit every one of them plus a stop at Athens, and two stops at Naples and Kotar Montenegro (and if you've ever been to either place, one stop is not enough), plus the beginning and end will call for some guests to consider 2-night stay in Rome and/or Barcelona. At that time of the year, the weather should be perfect!!

Pricing for the inside rooms start at $3,254 a person including the taxes and based on two persons per room. A balcony stateroom would demand $4,194 a person. We are several months away from knowing what the airfare from DFW to Rome and back from Barcelona would be, but around $1,300 range I would guess. About the same travel investment as the Alaska cruise with the exception of the airfare.

Deposits range in the neighborhood of 10% of the per person cost, and is due usually within 3 days of confirmation of the booking. Some ships are requiring final payments at 120 day, but Princess is holding to final payments due 90 days before departure. I remember back in the day when I first started, final payments were due within 30 days before, but it has moved to 45, then 60, now 90 for some and others at 120 days before departure.

We have taken The Travel Factory Gang on two other Mediterranean cruises with wonderful and amazing results. This is a very popular itinerary, so the encouragement is to make your reservations early, put down a refundable deposit, and start anticipatin'!!! That's a big part of vacation time. Early booking also guarantees a stateroom on a floor and in an area you would want rather than getting whatever is available.
