Group Travel with The Travel Factory Group Travel with The Travel Factory

We get requests all the time regarding our interest and capability to handle groups---athletic teams, high school groups, musical groups, church groups, family travel, you name it. Generally speaking, we always answer with a big YES!!! In fact, that's where I cut my teeth in travel.

In my profession the first 13 years, I was a coach and athletic director, so I was always involved in some form or fashion in arranging team travel, even to the point that I was the bus driver in some cases. So when I started in the travel business, one of my main responsibilities was taking care of arrangements for organizations that took groups on mission trips...making the air arrangements, the hotel accommodations, the transfer reservations, and coordinating all this with the organizer in the host country. Group sizes typically ranged from 30 to 400 participants. So....yes, we know groups.

Over the past 25 years I have planned and carried out about 4 groups a year, mostly cruise groups. For example, we are escorting another group to Alaska in July, our 25th group to that fantastic state. Currently there is still space for that July 8-20 experience, so if you are just slightly interested, give us a call, and before you know it, you'll be going on the best vacation experience ever!!!

We even plan groups for other folks who want to get a group organized; we just don't escort the group, rather the person who wants to be responsible for the group would be the escort. We currently have such a group going on a Western Caribbean itinerary out of New Orleans. They will visit ports in Cozumel Mexico, Roatan Honduras, a little private stop at Harvest Caye, and Costa Maya Mexico.

The host of the trip is an energetic gentleman named Bob Summers. He has traveled with us on some of our Travel Factory Gang trips, but he has also taken the responsibility of hosting groups of his own making. Friends and family of friends, lots of his clients that he calls on who are in city and county government, are his main targets, but of course, he welcomes anyone interested.

This year on Nov. 17-24, they are on Norwegian Cruise Line's Norwegian Getaway, a 2,400 passenger vessel that was introduced in 2014. It has all the usual bells and whistles of the modern liners, and best of all, they are currently running an attractive promotion, as are just about all the cruise lines at this time of the year. The first 2-3 months of each year is Wave Season when cruise lines entice potential passengers with all kinds of incentives. For example, beside the discounted group travel price, the cruisers who choose a balcony category on the Summers group will be able to enjoy a $50 per person on-board-credit, plus they can choose two of the following amenities:

  • All-inclusive beverage package for the first two persons in the room
  • Waive the cover charge of three specialty dining venues
  • $50 shore excursion credit per cabin per port
  • 50 minutes of WiFi

One of the best parts of this promotion is that they require only a $50 per person refundable deposit!!! Heck of a deal!!

All of the cruise lines are having some kind of promotion now, so whether its a group or individual, give the experienced travel counselors at The Travel Factory a call for some expert guidance and advice. We can be visited at 4150 Southwest Drive, or call us at 698-1421, or if you are out of town, 800-760-4040. Our website can be visited at www.thetravelfactoryabilene.com.
