Escape The Daily Humdrum.....At A Bargain!!!
For 11 years we have had the pleasant opportunity to take a great break as fall begins by sailing the Caribbean on beautiful and efficient cruise ships, catering to our every need and want. The first 8 years we were on a Carnival ship, the next four have been on a Royal Caribbean Cruise Line product.
More affectionately known as the “Rudy Cruise”, so named after the Country Music DJ and Radio Hall of Fame announcer over at the KEAN radio, Rudy Fernandez. Over the past years we have traveled to different parts of the Caribbean: Key West, Freeport and Nassau Bahamas, Belize, Roatan Honduras, Cozumel, Grand Cayman, Montego Bay and Falmouth Jamaica. Great ports with a variety of active and water related excursions along with the opportunity to “shop 'til you drop”. This year is our year to travel again to Falmouth, Jamaica, Grand Cayman, and Cozumel. It will be our fourth time to experience this fabulous itinerary, and many of our guests have, by now, their favorite haunts to visit.
Our ship is the Liberty of the Seas, a floating, 10-year old 154,407 tons of beauty, excitement, and relaxation. While she was dry docked last year about this time, she was not only rehabbed, but there were some exciting and interesting attractions added. The waterslide zone, dubbed “The Perfect Storm”, includes two racer slides called Cyclone and Typhoon. They are located in the aft area of the ship, near the Flowrider surf simulator and the rock-climbing wall. Kids also have a popular area called Splashaway Bay which includes water cannons and geysers. And for those of us who like the quieter, more sedate areas, there are plenty of those venues too, so that reading, napping, and just relaxin' by people watching are great past times and things you seldom get to do here in Abilene.
The entertainment package on this ship is over-the-top!!! Broadway type shows like Saturday Night Fever and other musical presentations in the main showroom each night, along with singing artists, magicians, comedians and jugglers will keep you entertained every night. When the show is over, then there is a variety of clubs and lounges with live entertainment, even karaoke becomes a big hit. Then, there is always something happening along the Royal Promenade with DreamWorks characters, clowns, and shopping venues that entice you with their bargains. They want you also to be entertained at the casino!!!!
We haven't even mentioned one of the main features of all cruises and that is the dining options. This ship has a beautiful, three floor dining area for dinner presentations. One of the floors is also used for sit-down-and-order breakfast and lunch. The Windjammer Marketplace is the buffet area, open for breakfast, lunch, and dinner each day. Other venues for dining without extra cost are Sorrento's Pizza and Cafe Promenade. Venues with a cover charge include the popular Johnny Rockets, Ben & Jerry's Ice Cream, Chops Grille--their signature steak house, Giovanni's Table--a traditional Italian restaurant, and Sabor Mexican Food. Trust me, you'll not go hungry on this ship!!
Beside all the above the best part is that you can enjoy all this for as little as $649 a person for an inside room!!!.......less than $100 a day per person!! A promenade room that overlooks the massive promenade is only $710 a person, and the balcony rooms start at $920 a person.....still a steal. And Royal Caribbean tells me that we have the lowest group price they offer. Plus....if you make a reservation before March 15, you will get $75 a cabin on-board-credit and you will have access to the 1-hour cocktail party with fun and door prizes for everyone.
