Antidote For Cabin Fever

cancun-1228131_1920

The kind of weather we have had for the past several days makes one want to consider getting away......hopefully to some better environment. Guess what....we have had a good many calls in recent days about arrangements for a “good getaway”, somewhere where it is a little warmer!!

Probably our most ready answer to that question is somewhere along the Mayan Riviera, south of Cancun. There are some all-inclusive resorts that specialize in family activities, then there are other properties that are for adults only.

The best feature about a trip down there is that it is only a 2 hour 15 minute flight from DFW. You can leave in the morning, and in early afternoon, you are already at the property, unpacked, had a lunch that was included on the price, and are lounging on the beach getting a tan, or under an umbrella with a new John Grisham book in your hand.

Of course, for a little longer flight, you could opt for a Jamaica resort, a Bahama resort, St. Lucia resort, or even a beautiful, over-the-water bungalow in Tahiti. That is if you don't mind taking a little longer to get there, and paying a little more money to heal your 'cabin fever'.

Some folks who want to just get away decide that Las Vegas might be the answer to their malady, even though the weather might not be any better, but inside the casinos it's always hot....often in more ways than one. And this might not be a bad idea either because often, if there is not several conventions going on or a holiday of some kind, the prices are very reasonable, especially if you choose to leave on a Tuesday and come back on a Thursday or Saturday.

Speaking of Vegas, if you want to have a little adventure too, they are competing with the tropical locations with the zip line adventures, right there in the big city!! In 2018 the Las Vegas Strip will see its first zipline debut at Caesars Entertainment's Linq Promenade. It's a $20 million zipline that will feature 10 parallel lines that leave from a 122-foot tower at the Linq Hotel and Casino, soar over the promenade's shops and restaurants before landing at the base of the High Roller observation wheel. No doubt you know about the High Roller; its a gigantic ferris wheel that has cabins that will seat several people. Some bring drinks and snacks to enjoy as they take the 20-30 minute ride overseeing the activities of the Strip.

Speaking of ziplines in Las Vegas, the first one there is the Freemont Street's towering SlotZilla Zipline, downtown. It is designed to look like a gigantic slot machine, shoots riders over the pedestrian thoroughfare from 77 feet in the air, where they can observe the restaurants, hotels, and tourists below, before they reach the landing.

My favorite way to cure cabin fever is to take the casual drive down to Galveston and get on one of those magnificent cruise ships that will take me down to to tropics in a days time. Relaxing amid the great dining options, entertainment options, and activity options is my cup of tea. And, when you consider that all meals, entertainment, and activities are included in the reasonable price....now that's the kind of 'cure' I can handle.

Consider the experienced travel counselors at The Travel Factory help you manufacture the cure for your 'cabin fever' by calling at 698-1421 or 800-760-4040. Or stop in at 4150 Southwest Drive for an opportunity for us to do a 'cabin fever' examination for you. Trust me, you'll not regret it!!!
