All About Disney

disneyland-changes-2018-the-travel-factory

It's been a few months since we've mentioned DisneyWorld and DisneyLand in our weekly comments, so since they have notified us of some changes they were going through, or putting their customers through, I thought this would be a good time to mention it. Planning for cruising and especially for anything Disney needs early, can I emphasize enough, EARLY attention.

A Disney spokesman said, after announcing that ticket prices were going to be raised around 18% this year, that “we will continue to evolve our pricing in a way that gives families a range of options to meet their budgets and helps better spread attendance throughout the year”. Let me see if I can interpret that; in my opinion, underlying what all he said was we are raising the prices to make more money.

Another piece of their strategy was to have pricing categories for single day tickets----value, regular, and peak. Their intent is to have different rates for different day of the year and peak rates generally applied during the busy holiday periods in an effort to help reduce demand and as a result, overcrowding. One example of this pricing is for a one-day, peak rate ticket at DisneyLand the cost would be $135. At the DisneyWorld property, the one-day peak rate ticket went up to $129. If you can't multiply, that means a family of four at DisneyLand would pay $540 a day; at DisneyWorld they would pay $516 a day. And we haven't plugged in the hotel, transportation, and meal costs, plus the additional days---you can't see either one of these in one day!!

Additionally their annual passes went up around 18%. Interestingly one of the statistics they mention is that the number of Disneyland annual-pass holders has quadrupled over the past 20 years, and the pass holders visit the parks on average of 10 times a year.

You might want to wait until next year. Disney revealed that there is not set date yet for their opening at DisneyWorld's new resort, “seamlessly connected” to Star Wars: Galaxy's Edge. That is the new Star Wars land also slated to open next year. Additionally they announced that a new “Guardians of the Galaxy” roller coaster will be coming to Future World at Epcot and that it will be one of the world's longest enclosed roller coasters.

Announced also was the opening date of June 23 for the new Pixar Pier, a themed land at Disneyland Resorts Adventure park.

Doesn't all that sound like fun?? Well, The Travel Factory has several agents who have been to all of those properties and have lots of experience selling them, so if you get exasperated in trying to sort out all the details, allow Donna, Doug, or Joy the opportunity to help and in the process save your sanity. We have been selling the Disney product since they opened DisneyLand in July '55, and DisneyWorld in Oct. '71.
