Vegas Is Going Country This Weekend!!!
Just today I heard another announcement about the Academy of Country Music Awards show taking place today through Monday. . . talk about a rocking place getting more rocking. . .that’ll be this weekend in Vegas!!! There will be performances all over the Strip and more, as well as the live broadcast of the awards show on CBS from the MGM Grand on Sunday.
It’s a crowded city just about any time of the year, because it has been named the NUMBER ONE trade show destination for the 20th consecutive year by the Trade Show News Network. They had 22,000 meetings there in 2013 with over 5.1 million delegates. Chicago is a way second and Orlando is third in national number of trade shows. Just think though, Las Vegas has to fill 150,000 room a night, even when there are no trade shows.
The Las Vegas Convention and Visitors Bureau reported 41,857,000 visitors in 2013. Gambling revenue in Clark County amounted to $9 billion with $6 billion coming from Strip gambling houses. . . .and would you believe that was 1% less than the year before!!
Check out this outrageous information. At the Palms Hotel, there is a 10,000 square foot suite that includes a basketball court that will set you back $25,000 a night. Las Vegas has always specialized in this over-the-top experience for the super high roller. At that same hotel they have a 2-story Sky Villa, named after Hugh Hefner and the cost for a night in that villa is only $40,000 a night. It has its own glass elevator to the second floor and an infinity pool that seats 12. It is a 3-bedroom, 9,000 square foot spot that sports a fitness center, dry sauna, outdoor terrace and media room with a revolving bed.
Can you imagine??!!!!
Lots of folks don’t go to Las Vegas to gamble; they go to shop, eat, and be entertained. . . . and there are many venues for that. There are some new high-end shopping opportunities at CityCenter in The Shops at Crystals. Also, the new premier shops at the newly remodeled Appian Way make the professional shopper drool. Of course that’s not counting the Super Outlet Malls, and the Las Vegas Mall on the Strip!!!
I’ve heard that you can get a premium burger and some regional craft beer at the B&B Burger & Beer patio at The Venetian, or the new wine and cuisine at Krug Chef’s Table at Caesar’s Palace. If you are into Japanese food the new Nobu restaurant in Caesar’s Palace is the place to enjoy.
This is a city that never sleeps, and the lights are always on. . .just a great adult getaway. This is a good tip though, stay away from those 3-day holiday weekends and the major holidays like New Years and Christmas, especially if you are looking for a bargain.
