One of the real pleasures we receive as travel agents is to help couples plan their honeymoon or anniversary getaway. Any time of the year is the time to make those plans, but here in the Spring, there is certainly a lot more opportunities for those activities.
The honeymoon is an important part of the wedding experience, a celebration of the culmination of the marriage ceremony. It should be a relaxing and exciting experience. . .a time of finally together with no stress. That’s when the travel professional is a valuable ally, and is ready with lots of advice based on past experiences of planning for this memorable occasion. We are the best stress relievers of all time in these situations.
There are many factors that come into play when planning, such as when to go, where to go, how many nights, budget, all-inclusive or not, fly or drive or cruise, just to name a few considerations. The good travel agent will sit with the couple or individual and after a few questions and conversation, can have the ideal situation to suggest, or at least offer one or two options that fit their expectations..
If the couple wants an adult-only, all-inclusive honeymoon, then our best recommendation (proven over the years by client’s feedback) is the beautiful beach resorts just south of Cancun. It is a short flight from DFW, and within a couple of hours after leaving DFW they are checked in and on the beach or at the pool, or just taking a deep breath from the past hectic 3-4 weeks of planning for the wedding.
There are many other really nice resort properties on the islands in the Caribbean like Jamaica, St Lucia, Bahamas, Aruba, Virgin Islands, just to name a few. They are wonderful experiences, but you have to be mentally prepared for a day’s flight to get there and a day’s flight returning.
Honeymooning in the United States is very popular too. One reason is that the couple does not have to go to the expense of buying a passport. There are great adult cities to honeymoon such as San Francisco, the Napa Valley, Las Vegas, and New Orleans, and New York. Hawaii is also a popular United States option. The primary negative is that there are no all-inclusive properties here in the United States, and there is the typical cost for rental cars.
One of our best tour operators, Funjet Vacations, is running a promotion currently for many of these resorts. The promotion is over on April 25, so we encourage our honeymoon or anniversary planners to quickly give us a call and let us be privileged to help you with this most important memory-making event of your early marriage. . . . . or well-deserved anniversary trip. We can be reached at 698-1421 or toll-free 800-760-4040; better still drop in for a visit at 4150 Southwest Drive, Ste. 120 at the Plaza at Park Central, between Rosa’s and Chick-Fil-A. We’d love to be of service.
