Naturally we get questions about the all-inclusive vacation packages to our neighbor to the South. . .. Mexico.  Most of those questions regard security and safety of travel to that destination.

We continue to advise folks to refrain from traveling into the border towns, but traveling into the tourist destinations like Cancun, Cozumel, Puerto Vallarta and Los Cabos have proven quite safe.  We have personally traveled there and have had clients go to all those locations without incident or concern, so we are very confident in recommending those locations.

Mexico Department of Tourism has had an “all hands on deck” approach in making sure that they positively address the negative perception of safety in their country.  This has been one of the major initiatives of the president elected about a year ago, Enrique Pena Nieto. He has an $18 billion tourism budget over the next 5 years to encourage tourism infrastructure and apparently it is paying off.

Reading from a recent report, year-over-year tourism revenue increased 15% in the first four months of 2014.  So far during his tenure, tourism has moved from fifth to fourth place as a contributor to Mexico’s economy.

The great thing about taking a vacation along the Mayan Riviera which is just south of Cancun or even to Cozumel is the short flying time involved. . only about 2 hours and 15 minutes from DFW and you are there, and within another couple of hours or so after arrival, you are on the beach, relaxin’ and soaking up the sun and salty air.

There are some wonderful 4-and 5-star all-inclusive properties that cater to families as well as the adult-only crowd.  When you consider that included in the price is the airfare, all you can eat and drink(beer, wine, and cocktails), transfers, gratuities, water sport activities, entertainment and taxes, that’s a pretty good deal.

As we’ve always said, the earlier reservations are made for this exciting vacation, the lower the price.  That is primarily a factor related to the lowest available seats on the airplane.  They will not sell all the seats at the reduced rate, so the persons making the reservations early enough will get the cheapest seats.
